Our service

The Centre for Better Health is part of the City and Hackney Wellbeing Network, a partnership of specialist mental health providers that offers high-quality free support for people who have been struggling with their mental health for a long time and are facing difficult life experiences.

Members of the Network can access free support, resources and activities, including:

  • Access to an online resource portal

  • Enrolment on therapeutic support groups, creative courses and more

  • Depending on your needs, you may also be able to access 1:1 support from a dedicated Mental Health Coach

At the Centre for Better Health, we offer a range of creative and therapeutic courses to help you look after your wellbeing and support positive mental health. Take a look at our Better Health Hub page to see what’s on offer currently.

How to apply

If you have been struggling with your mental health for a long time and you live in the City of London or London Borough of Hackney, you can apply to join the Network.

To apply, visit https://chwellbeingnetwork.london/ and click on ‘Make a referral’. Please select ‘Centre for Better Health’ when asked which Network organisation you would like to refer into.

What to expect

Once you have completed an application,

  • We will arrange a brief telephone screening. This is so we can check your details, and for you to provide more information about your current mental health and the types of support you are seeking. Screenings are held over the phone and take around 5-10 minutes.

  • If you are eligible, you will then be invited to come in to the Centre to meet your assigned Mental Health Coach (MHC) for an assessment.

  • After completing your assessment, your MHC will help you set a support plan to work on goals aimed at alleviating issues such as isolation, loneliness, stress, anxiety and low mood.  You will discuss the types of support available through the Wellbeing Network, and your MHC will work with you to find and enrol you on Network-funded courses and groups.  They will also aim to signpost you to other forms of support in the local area.  You will be able to have regular contact with your MHC while you are a member, including a wellbeing-review at 6 months, and an exit-review at the end of your membership.

What clients say about the Wellbeing Network

“As I’ve moved out of Hackney I know that’s the end of my journey with the network. I can honestly say that the past few years doing Andreas meditation, Carols Chi Kung and Nats herbal craft have made the world of difference to me.
As a direct result of these courses, my energy, emotional and mental health and confidence are much improved. I meditate most days, do Chi Kung classes several times a week and now make herbal teas, skin balms and various other concoctions for myself, friends and family. I’m contemplating doing a years foundation course in herbal medicine to see if I want to take it further.
So, thank you, the Centre for Better Health and Well-being Network for being instrumental in supporting my journey."
