Founded by John Wilder in 1959, the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association was established at the time of the Mental Health Act when psychiatric hospitals were being closed and replaced by care in the community.

Over the years, PRA provided much needed support for hundreds of individuals on discharge from hospital. The services ranged from residential care, day centres, sheltered workshops, art studios and gallery, a shop, evening groups and an out-of-hours supper club.

PRA Services changed its name to The Centre for Better Health in 2010 and is now an established and recognised provider of a range of support services, social care and accommodation.

We work with individuals across the community from those who need intensive support due to more severe mental illness, to those experiencing milder mental health issues thus promoting positive mental health and wellbeing for all.
